A simple image showing four glasses of water has become a favorite brain teaser because it tests how carefully people observe what they see. Although each glass appears to contain the same amount of water, every one holds a different object: a paperclip, a baseball, an eraser, or a wristwatch. Many people instinctively focus only on the water level, assuming that all four glasses must contain the same amount of liquid.
