Cleaning an oven is often one of the most delayed household chores, but a simple method can make the process much easier. Rather than relying on harsh chemicals or extensive scrubbing, this approach uses only a dishwashing pod, a heatproof casserole dish, and water to help loosen built-up grime.
Begin by preheating the oven to 200°F (93°C). Fill the heatproof dish with water, place a dishwashing pod inside, and set it on the middle rack. Allow the mixture to heat for about an hour. As the water creates steam, the cleaning agents from the pod help break down grease, baked-on spills, and other stubborn residue throughout the oven interior.
Once the hour has passed, turn off the oven and let it cool slightly before opening the door. Using a damp cloth, wipe down the interior surfaces. In many cases, the softened grime will come away with minimal effort. If any tougher spots remain, the process can be repeated or followed with gentle scrubbing using a soft brush.
This technique is both affordable and convenient because it relies on items commonly found in most homes. It also avoids strong cleaning odors, making it a practical choice for many households. With regular use, it can help reduce grease buildup, maintain oven performance, and keep the appliance looking cleaner with far less effort than traditional deep-cleaning methods.
