Tammy Slaton, known from the TLC series 1000-Lb. Sisters, has undergone an extraordinary transformation after losing about 540 pounds from her peak weight of 725 pounds. Her journey was far from straightforward, including a 100-pound weight gain during the pandemic, severe health complications, limited mobility, and a long struggle with food addiction. For Tammy, weight loss became about improving her health, independence, and future rather than simply changing her appearance.
After years of treatment and determination, bariatric surgery in 2022 helped accelerate her progress. By season seven of 1000-Lb. Sisters, Tammy had reached 238 pounds, a remarkable milestone that reflected years of hard work. Although she admitted feeling anxious before the procedure, the surgery was successful, and her recovery progressed faster than expected, allowing her to return home early. The experience showed that even after reaching a healthier weight, her journey still involved new physical and emotional obstacles.
